Confidence building activities for kids | AmazingMindWarriors

There are many kids who find it difficult to be confident. The mindset a parent instills in their child or the words used can help in building confidence of a child. It is important that child believes in himself/herself and is proud of what they are. They need to like themselves without being arrogant. A parent plays the most important role in building confidence of a child. This is one factor which cannot be neglected or overlooked as it makes a difference to the life the children will lead in the future.

Tips on Building confidence in a Child:

1. Making a list:

Make an effort ad spend some time with your child and find out his/her strength. This focus on the positives in a child goes a long way in building their confidence.

2. Setting a Goal Plan:

You need to set a goal plan which can be attained by your child. Take the effort to ensure he/she can achieve these. Encouraging them through the process of achieving the goals and celebrating with the progress made, instills a high level of confidence in a child.

3. Using Affirmations:

Encouraging words spoken for your child leads to positivity over a period of time. He/she feels loved and safe and is confident to face the world sans any fears.

4. Playing ‘what I like about you’:

You can make this a ritual for dinner time when the family is together. Each one says something positive about the other family member.

5. Help in Creating:

You can use recyclable materials and let your child create anything out of his/her imagination. This improves the ability to think and rectify the mistakes made and boosts up the levels of confidence.

6. Practicing yoga:

Yoga is not only for the grown-ups. You can get your child to practice this and ensure he/she is healthy in mind and body. This increases the feeling of well-being and happiness.

7. Collaborating Artwork at home:

Displaying an artwork of your child on the wall or the refrigerator works as a confidence booster for your child. It is important that you spend quality time with your child and help him/her with this art.

8. Addressing them by Name:

One simple way to make your child feel important is to address them by their name.

9. Special Tasks:

A child can feel important and useful when you ask them to help you with simple tasks every day. Some of the tasks which can be given to kids are helping out with a younger sibling or probably taking care of the pet. For a young child, even dressing up himself/herself is an important task.

10. Joining them at play:

Playing with your child makes him/her feel important. They know that when adults spend time with them means they are valued.

You can also ask them for suggestions or advice at times and follow the same.

Confident children are ‘confident’ adults who can go a long way with their aspirations and ambitions.
